Prologue

Long ago, long before the five tribes existed, there was a tribe called Peace Tribe. Peace Tribe was made up of a large group of kind rouges which lived and traveled together. But one day, everything changed. But we’ll start at the beginning of the whole story.

Chapter 1
Star, Winter, and Tornado were grazing in the sun, waiting for their friends to return from hunting; Swift and Rainbow. You see, just five moons ago, the five friends were finally old enough and experienced enough to hunt for the tribe. “What do you guys want to do?” asked Winter staring at them with her ice blue eyes. “I don’t know Winter. What about you, Star? Do you have any ideas?” asked Tornado standing up and shaking his black, grey and white pelt. Star remand laying down on the rock but answered. “How about we look at the kits?” suggested Star shaking her beautiful tortoiseshell and white pelt in the sunlight. Winter sighed. “It’s like you’re obsessed with kits.” she replied licking her paw. Star stood up. “I am not!” she objected. “It’s just; they’re the future of the tribe.” Tornado put a paw over his ear. “Star’s right, Winter.” exclaimed Tornado. “Kits are the future of the tribe.” “Fine.” she meowed dryly. “We’ll go see them since there’s nothing else to do.” “Oh cheer up, Winter! There’ll be plenty of things to do soon.” encouraged Star nudging her friend playfully. “I hope so.” muttered Winter under her breath. As the three friends made their way to the den for mothers, a fluffy white tom tumbled out with a grey she-cat. “Whoa Weaver! Cindy! Take it easy! No ruff housing!” growled a voice as she stepped out of the ferns. It was Sadie; the mother of Cindy and Weaver. “Sorry mother.” mewed the two siblings. “They’re so adorable!” purred Star trotting into the den for mothers. Tornado and Winter followed more slowly. “Thank you Star but they’re such a handful.” greeted Sadie exhaustedly. “But at least not as much as Lavender, Sydney, Sammy, and Petey.” Star pointed out helpfully. Sadie let out an amused purr. “I guess you’re right. Well, I’m going to take a quick nap.” meowed Sadie letting out a big yawn. Star, Tornado, and Winter said their goodbyes and rushed out of the den; only to bump into Rainbow and Swift. “There you guys are!” meowed Star greeting her two friends. “Where have you been?” “We were out hunting silly!” replied Swift. “Yeah!” agreed Rainbow. “We caught a lot of prey. What were you guys doing in the den for mothers?” “We were checking on the kits.” meowed Tornado. “Is anyone else hungry?” exclaimed Winter as her stomach started to rumble. “Yeah!” agreed Tornado. “All that hunting’s made me hungry!” exclaimed Swift. The five friends padded over to the prey and looked at it hungrily. Tornado pulled out a black bird, Rainbow pulled out a trout, Winter pulled out a chipmunk, Star pulled out a rabbit and Swift pulled out a plump grouse. “I don’t get how you can eat a grouse. There’s not enough meat on them.” meowed Rainbow wrinkling her nose in disgust. “Everyone has different taste in prey and mine is grouse and if you find it gross then go somewhere else!” snapped Swift defensively. “Whoa Swift!” purred Winter in surprise. “Take it easy. She was just saying what she thought of grouse meat. And you are right Swift; we all have a different taste in prey.” Swift just sniffed and continued eating. After they had finished their meal, the five cats went to bed; hoping to dream about something pleasant.

Chapter 2

The five cats awoke in a green forest. “That was a wonderful nap.” meowed Winter arching her back. “You got that right.” meowed Swift in agreement as he stretched. “Guys?” started Tornado looking around curiously. “Where are we? This isn’t Peace Tribe.” The five cats looked around in alarm. Where could they be? “Did Peace Tribe decide to move to different land and left us?” whispered Rainbow in a scared voice. “Never!” growled Winter. “Peace Tribe has never left a cat behind!” “Guys…” meowed Star in an alarmed voice as a ghostly mist came out of nowhere. All of a sudden a ghostly figure slowly walked out of the mist. “W-w-w-w-who are you?” stammered Tornado in a scared voice. Star squinted her eyes to see the figure more closely. “Guys.” she finally meowed. “That’s a cat.” The five friends stared at the she-cat in shock. She was a ghostly white color with ice blue eyes. “Who are you?” repeated Tornado coming closer. The she-cat stared at them. “My name is Sky. I was sent here to help you on a journey.” explained the she-cat. The five friends looked at her, mystified. “A journey?” repeated Rainbow. “What’s that supposed to mean?” “You have a greater destiny.” explained Sky. “One must become five.” “What does that mean?” asked Tornado. “Who are you and why are you here?” demanded Rainbow. Sky stared at them and slowly started to fade away. “Wait!” wailed Winter running over to where the she-cat was. And just like that, Sky was gone.

Chapter 4

The five friends jolted awake. “W-w-w-what just happened?” stammered Star shaking her pelt. “You guys; did you hear what Sky said?” asked Tornado. “Yeah. She said we have a greater destiny than Peace Tribe.” exclaimed Rainbow repeating Sky’s words. “Does that mean we have to leave Peace Tribe?” squeaked Star in horror. “No way!” spat Swift lashing his tail from side to side. “I don’t care what that ghostly she-cat said! I’m staying in Peace Tribe.” “A ghostly she-cat?” repeated a voice which made the five cats jump. The friends turned around to see Jingo and Pod coming up to them. “What’s all this about a ghostly she-cat?” demanded Pod. “Hey Pod! Take it easy.” meowed Jingo sternly. “Oh…um…” started Star. “We were just talking about a little story that Swift came up with.” “Y-y-y-y-yeah!” agreed Winter. “It’s really cool.” Pod eyed them curiously but didn’t question any further. “Well then maybe you should go tell the kits the story.” exclaimed Jingo. “Oh right now? I Uh…” Swift meowed but was cut off by Winter. “He’d love to. I’ll go with him to tell the story.” Winter hurried away with Swift to the kits. “Ok then. How about you three go hunting for Peace Tribe.” suggested Jingo. “Ok.” meowed Tornado flicking his tail for his friends to follow. “Phew!” sighed Star. “That was a close one.” “We ought to be more careful.” agreed Rainbow. “Let’s just hunt and clear our minds from that strange dream.” meowed Tornado. “We should discuss it with Winter and Swift too.” Rainbow and Star nodded in agreement.

Chapter 5

Star, Tornado, and Rainbow came back to Peace Tribe’s hideout with two rabbits, five mice, and one squirrel. “Whoa!” cried Ash happily. “You caught a lot of food for the tribe! Hey Cry! Come check out what these three youngsters caught!” All the tribe started to come over to Star, Rainbow, and Tornado. “Really. It was our pleasure.” meowed Star embarrassed as every cat started to praise them. Winter and Swift stared at them in awe. “That’s a lot of prey you three caught on your own!” praised Winter. “What’s all the fuss about?” yowled Cry so he could be heard over the yowls. Everyone fell silent. “Cry! These three caught two rabbits, five mice, and one squirrel.” explained Ash. Cry looked at them with hope in his amber eyes. “Excellent work you three! Keep it up and you could be the best hunters in the tribe!” “T-t-t-thank you Cry!” stammered Star dipping her head in deep respect. “Oh no need to thank me! You’ve earned it. Oh and could you do me a favor?” asked Cry expectantly. “What is it?” asked Tornado. “Could you bring some of it to the den for mothers?” explained Cry. “Sure.” replied Rainbow. “We’ll help.” offered Winter as Swift nodded his head. Cry flicked his tail for them to help their friends with the prey. “Before you two say anything, we didn’t do anything special to catch the prey.” explained Tornado. Winter and Swift nodded their heads and each picked up a rabbit and walked into the den for mothers.

“Now what?” asked Rainbow as they finished giving the prey to the den for mothers. “How about we go out in the forest and discuss the dream?” suggested Star. “Good idea.” exclaimed Winter. “Let’s go.” whispered Tornado. The five friends had barely walked out of Peace Tribe’s hiding place when they bumped into Ash, Splash, Chirp, Flame, and Melody. “Hello Tornado, Rainbow, Swift, Winter, and Star.” greeted Melody. “What’re you five doing out here?” “We’re going hunting again.” explained Winter. “Oh well then go right ahead.” meowed Melody happily. “Oh and you guys might not want to hunt by the river.” exclaimed Splash. “Why not?” asked Swift curiously. “Because,” started Flame. “Twolegs have been catching fish there. So we won’t be able to eat fish for a while.” continued Chirp. “No cat from Peace Tribe is allowed over there.” “Ok then.” meowed Star telling her friends to follow. “We’ll try to avoid it.” “What do you mean by “we’ll try to avoid it”?” asked Swift as soon as Flame, Chirp, Ash, Splash, and Melody were out of sight. “Don’t you get it Swift?” whispered Star turning around. “If no one is allowed to go there, we can go there to talk with no cat snooping into our business.” Swift’s eyes brightened. “Oh I get it now.” he exclaimed shaking his head. The five cats silently headed down to the stream; hoping no cat was following them. All of a sudden Star stopped in her tracks. “What is it?” hissed Winter looking around nervously. “Shh! Listen. I think we’re here.” whispered Star perking her ears. The five cats listened in complete silence as they heard the gentle flowing sound of the river close by. “Something’s not right.” meowed Tornado aloud. “I can hear something yelling loudly.” Winter walked closer towards the river and then instantly shot down into the undergrowth. “What is it?” hissed Rainbow coming up to Winter with the rest of her friends behind her. Winter pointed her tail at tall walking things. All five cats gasped. “Twolegs.” whispered Tornado. “I don’t understand.” growled Star. “What do they want with our fish?” “Who knows.” meowed Swift. “Twolegs are mouse-brained idiots.” “Come on guys. Let’s just find a place to talk.” meowed Winter walking away from the twolegs. “How about right here?” exclaimed Rainbow pointing at a sheltered place right beside the river. “Peace Tribe nor the twolegs will find us here.” The four friends nodded in agreement at Rainbow’s idea. “It’s a bit tight in here but it’ll do.” gasped Star squeezing in. “Ok. Anyway back to the dream.” meowed Tornado. “What do you think she meant?” “I don’t know. A greater destiny than Peace Tribe? I don’t see it.” replied Winter in confusion. “Maybe it meant that all five of us were meant to be the leaders of Peace Tribe?” suggested Swift. Tornado shook his head. “I don’t think so. It would seem too obvious. It seems to me that Sky wants us to really think about it.” “I agree with Tornado.” exclaimed Star. “Sky wants us to think extra hard which means it must be a big deal.” “Well then what could it be?” demanded Swift. Star shook her head. “I don’t know.” “We all don’t know.” Rainbow pointed out. “Which means we must work together. How about we do some quick hunting and then go to sleep to see if we can refresh our minds and maybe have another dream?” exclaimed Rainbow. Star, Tornado, Rainbow, Winter, and Swift left the river and went hunting.

Chapter 6
Star kept tossing and turning until she finally awoke in her nest with her friends all wide awake and up. “You guys can’t sleep either?” asked Star shaking her thin pelt as she stepped out of her nest. “You do realize that we’re in another dream right?” exclaimed Winter looking around. Star blinked her eyes to see the same spooky forest they had been in yesterday night. “Oh!” she muttered. “I guess I was too lazy to open my eyes all the way.” “Welcome back my friends.” greeted an eerie voice but the five friends recognized it right away. “What now Sky? What game are you playing at?” growled Swift as the she-cat appeared. “I assure you, I am not playing a game with you five special ones. You have a greater destiny.” explained Sky sympathetically. “Can you at least tell us a bit more then?” pleaded Rainbow and Winter. Sky looked at them hopefully. “Alright then.” started Sky. “One day, Peace Tribe will no longer exist. Cats will start to complain and hurt each other till…” “They’ve killed each other.” finished Tornado in shock. Sky nodded her head. “Yes. That is why you must stop it from coming true.” explained Sky. “But how?” wailed Star. “That is for you five to figure out by yourself. I cannot give you all the answers.” replied Sky. “B-b-b-but you will still help us right?” pleaded Swift. Sky’s gaze softened. “Of course. It is my job.” “Thank you Sky.” meowed Tornado as the rest of the friends bowed their heads in deep respect. “We hope to see you again tonight.” “But I might not always be there at night.” exclaimed Sky. “Does that mean you could visit us during the day?” meowed Star in astonishment. Sky nodded her head and vanished.

Chapter 7
The five friends snapped awake with a jolt. Their eyes were shinning with happiness. They had finally discovered what was going to happen in the future and now they could plan ahead! “Now what do we do?” asked Swift. “We know what’ll happen in the future so how should we stop it?” “How about we split and become lone rouges?” suggested Rainbow. Her friends blinked at her. “That’s a terrible idea.” exclaimed Winter. “We want things to be better and not worse! If everyone goes their separate ways, they could easily be captured or killed!” “Winter’s right Rainbow.” agreed Tornado. “We need a way to stay as a tribe.” “A tribe huh?” murmured Star pacing around. “I’ve got nothing.” “Remember what Sky said to us earlier?” asked Winter. The friends looked at Winter curiously. “She said one must become five. Could that have something to do with Peace Tribe since we are one big family?” “Winter you’re a genius!” yowled Rainbow. “This has got to do something with five things, like us five friends!” "But we are like one big family us five." exclaimed Star, her heart sinking. "Does that mean we have to stop being friends?" The five friends went silent as they thought it over. “No way! It has nothing to do with us five splitting up.” meowed Swift reassuringly. “I really want it to be true but I feel like it might be the answer.” she replied. “Why do you think that?” asked Winter softly. “Well think about it. One family into five. What could it mean?” meowed Star sternly getting up and pacing around. The friends looked at one another in pain and despair. “One tribe into what?” murmured Tornado loudly. “I got an idea!”exclaimed Rainbow. “One thing into five right? Well there’s one tribe split into five makes…?” meowed Rainbow waiting for someone to answer. “Five tribes!” cried Winter. “Of course! One tribe must become five tribes!” “You’re a genius Rainbow!” meowed Star hugging her friend. “But who would be the leaders?” asked Tornado. “Each tribe must have a leader.” The five friends sat down and thought once more. “Maybe Cry could lead one of them?” suggested Swift. “Or…” started a familiar voice. The five friends stared happily at a ghostly white she-cat. “Sky!” exclaimed Star. “Can anyone else see you?” “No. Only you five. So have you figured out your future?” asked Sky. “Yes. Peace Tribe must split into five different tribes. But we haven’t figured out who the leaders could be or the names of the five tribes.” explained Tornado excitedly. “Who said you couldn’t be the five leaders of the five tribes?” questioned Sky amusement showing in her ice blue eyes. The five friends stared at her in shock. “We could do that?!” asked Swift in astonishment. “Of course! Now how about you go to sleep and dream about it some more together with me?” she asked.
After many moons (days) of planning, Star, Winter, Tornado, Swift, Rainbow and Sky had made up the code, the healing cat code, hunting/fighting techniques separately for their own tribes and much more. When the time came, all the cats in Peace Tribe were ready to start a new life by choosing which cat (Tornado, Star, Winter, Swift, and Rainbow) they trusted more. It had been split into equal groups. (Almost equal).

Chapter 8

Fifteen seasons later…

Everything was going great in the five tribes but every cat was grieving as Star, Winter, Swift, Tornado, and Rainbow (all the very first and most noble leaders of their tribes), died for no reason. The five cats gasped as they awoke in a luscious forest; just like the one they had first seen back when they were young and had first met Sky. “This forest brings back so many memories of when we were young.” meowed Tornado. “Hey!” exclaimed Star as she looked at herself. “I feel younger! We all look younger!” “Greetings my friends.” meowed a very familiar voice. “Sky.” gasped the five friends. “Let me explain why you are here. The reason you are hear is because you have done your job and the five tribes shall survive. You have also come here because now you must guide your own tribes. This is where all the cats from all your tribes shall one day thrive. Prey never runs out and everyone is friendly. This place makes you look younger and feel younger and if you are a deaf or blind cat down there; you are not deaf or blind up here.” finished Sky. “Oh Sky!” started Star. “Thank you for bringing us here and showing us our true destinies. And for that, we have something for you. Before we died, we told the five tribes that we will look down on them and guide them and that where we are going; they will come too one day. We told them about you and what you did for us. And they even thank you for that.” explained Star. Sky cocked her head to one side. “So we have decided to name this place after you. This is now called Sky Tribe.” finished Star. Sky’s eyes flashed with gratitude. “Thank you.” she meowed.

The End.
